Seeing the Seven Sisters from the back yard

OrangePolitics, 12/3/03

WillR: Not to bore the people here with more "I remember when...." stories of Chapel Hill, but....I do remember seeing the Seven Sisters from the backyard of the Pink House on North St. (behind Troll's roughly), throughout the early to late 80's, even into the early-90's. I'm sure Joe H. could better comment.

(Editor's note: This comment by Will Raymond from 2003 on an OrangePolitics discussion of the then-seemingly imminent development of Carolina North was referring to how much light pollution there was at that point in downtown Chapel Hill. Will must have stories to tell about Pink House parties of the 80s, and hopefully sometime he can persuaded to share some of them.)

N'Gai and Dana in NYC

After N'Gai finally gave up on the booming metropolis of Winston-Salem, he moved back up to NYC in late 2002. Dana was still working at a law firm there, before he migrated in the opposite direction down to Charlotte. Over the next couple of years, I occasionally got to chill with them both amidst the mean streets of Manhattan.

On one of these afternoons, N'Gai and I threw down in an epic chess tournament before making a pilgrimage to Electric Ladyland Studios in the Village, to pay homage to Hendrix's spirit.
